Sustainability
At PMI, we strive to minimize our impact on the Earth while making sure our efforts to “go green” are good for the bottom line. Our goal is to offer our partners and customers sustainable products from sustainable factories via sustainable offices.
Products
When it comes to products, our mantra is to "reduce, reuse and recycle," and this belief is evident in our Aladdin Sustain line of insulated to-go mugs.
After much research and investment, we co-developed eCycle, a food grade quality plastic that is made from 100 percent recycled materials with a 25 percent post consumer content. It’s also recyclable where [5] plastic is collected.
Packaging
We're currently eliminating PVC in all our products and packaging. We’re re-designing our packaging to reduce the materials used for labels, boxes and shipping containers and make sure that all materials we do use are recyclable.
Factories
Our factories and supply chains meet or exceed standards for waste reduction, reclaiming energy, recycling water, environmental management, labor laws and international certifications. Many of our factories have been certified (ISO 14001) and conform to international standards, and we require our partner factories to implement Environmental Management Systems.
Offices
Our commitment to green extends into our own home. We have a Green Office Checklist that’s used in all of our offices. In our Seattle headquarters, for instance, every chair is made from recycled materials; the carpet is 20 percent postindustrial waste and 80 percent post-consumer waste; the flooring, a material called Marmoleum, is made from all organic, sustainable materials; and the paints are low in volatile organic compounds.
